Heritage Boat Club Membership
We are pleased to present the 2004 roster of Heritage Boat Club Officers and
Direcors .
The Heritage Boat Club is a nonprofit group of boaters and boat lovers dedicated
to the research, restoration, preservation and continued use of classic
watercraft. We strive to promote and foster our maritime heritage as well as
offer various boating-related activities such as cruises and races to our
members. During the pre-boating season, the club offers several educational
seminars that help members improve their maintenance skills or boating
knowledge.
In a typical year, members of the Heritage Boat Club will be involved with
several festivals and events around the southern end of Lake Michigan. In
July, the Michigan Maritime Museum hosts their annual "Heritage Boat Gathering"
in South Haven, Michigan. For the past ten plus years, the Heritage Boat Club
has held its own annual "Heritage Wooden Boat Festival" in either late July or
in August. The festival is usually held at Chicago’s Montrose Harbor, but it
has also been held in Racine, Wisconsin. The festival affords members an
opportunity to show off their vessels to the public, as well as conduct
numerous activities on the shore. Recently the club has had members of the
Blackhawk Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society join us at the
festival. HBC members also are encouraged to participate in races for classic
sailboats, including the Legends of the Lake Race, (from Grand Haven, Michigan
to Chicago) and the Founders' Cup Race (originating in Chicago). Sometimes the
club joins with the City of Chicago in conducting maritime events, including
Venetian night participation and escorting the "tall ships" to Navy Pier when
they visited Chicago. The Heritage Boat Club does not organize all of the
available events in a given year, but we do strive to support them as a group.
The club also hosts various short cruises and raft-off picnics throughout the
boating season, as well as the annual Commodores’ Ball in winter.
We welcome you to join the Heritage Boat Club as a "regular" member or

Regular membership: $30.00 (Full voting privileges including a
subscription to the "Heritage Hailer," the club’s quarterly newsletter.)
Associate membership: $20.00 (Nonvoting membership, but does include a
subscription to the "Heritage Hailer," the club’s quarterly newsletter.)
